Still Walking

I rise to walk
Yet I fall flat on my face
In the heat of the times I never thought I'd get through
Times I never thought I would experience

Yet I find a stronger power urging me to rise up from my fall
I struggle to crawl
I hurt from the wounds of my fall
I crawl, slowly I move further

I have the strength to rise again
I take one step..two..three
I get tired
Still I rise to walk
I keep walking
Knowing that what lies ahead of me needs me to walk
The power behind me pushes me forward

And He whispers to me"I know the plans I have for you...to give you a hope and a future"
Though I can't touch this future
My present denotes nothing like it yet

I perceive the future
Cos I perceive the magnificence of my promisor
And so He pushes me
Keep Walking
Through the slippery slopes just walk
Through the tight corners just walk
If it seems like a sea just walk
Through it all I'd be there

I am walking
I intend to keep walking
Keep pushing me, I will walk

Job's Wife...Through it All

We talk so much about the Famous Job in the bible. Yet, little or no mention is made about his wife apart from when she urged him to curse God and die, due to the many calamities that was brought upon them. Although we can not excuse her advice as right, yet she exuded every human attribute we all have: the tendency to get cowered by circumstances and blame it on God.

Nevertheless, I strongly believe that this woman rose above and beyond this moment of pain and blame and pressed on through their trials together. Why do I think so? Because through her God gave Job another set of sons and daughters to replace those lost in the fire. If these children were from a different woman, the bible would have specified. Moreover, it would not have really felt like a blessing in its truest form if he had to re-marry.

What is my point? As much as Job was Patient, His wife was patient as well. She nursed his wounds you can best believe, otherwise He wouldn't have gone back to have sons and daughters through her. Beyond the surface of the book of Job lies a woman, human enough to admit her blame of God, but strong enough to stand firm by her husband through all that was thrown at him. She was able to live beyond her circumstances, and in the end partook of the double honour that God redeemed Job with.

You can stand firm and pull through whatever life has thrown your way. I believe it is okay to have some moments of doubt or fear, being human, but I challenge you not to remain there. Stand firm, stay strong and know that through it all, Everything is working out for your good.

God bless you

What Utensil Am I?

One of my projects this week was God tutoring me on being a Vessel for His Use. He led me to 1Tim2:20-21;  “In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets—some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage. Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.”

I have pondered over this all week, trying to figure out what utensil fits into my job description or purpose in the Kingdom of God. Although I thought I'd liken myself to fine china used honorably to be a blessing. But then again, the compost bag also has its use. It takes out trash and ensures the kitchen is tidy. So what Utensil am I?.....

Sometimes I think Christians or church folks are carried away by titles that they forget that everyone is being used in the Kingdom for a purpose. In actual fact it's not even about the person being used by God or what he does for God. It is more about God Himself. God has His own agenda and the reasons why He chooses people and gives them a particular assignment. This in itself is more supreme than any thing.

Although I started out this post with the intention of encouraging you to be a vessel fit for the purpose of the Master, I just realized while writing that we should not look down on other utensils because of their use. In the same vein, we should not idolize certain utensils because of their use. Every Utensil has its use: to ensure that the Kitchen is running and producing value up to its full capacity. Even if you think you are an "Eba Stick" or "Microwave", your Joy is in the fact that the Master deemed you worthy of use!

Keep BEING a UTENSIL... God Bless You

P.s For my non-African audience, Eba stick is.....................lool

A Relational God

She walked into the church with her make up on, a fitted trouser and her long weave. She didn't even tie a scarf! Her blouse was fitted yet not revealing. In her heart she was dressed modestly, yet she attracted stares from everyone seated in the pews. Just after she took her seat, A young man walked in behind her. He looked dashing, with his hair weaved and studs on his ears. He wore a ragged jeans and a very long chain on his neck. They were both summoned by the ushers at the end of the service. Seated in front of the council of elders, they were being scolded and schooled on how they were headed for Hell because of their appearance.

This is the religion most Christians are used to; A list of do's and don'ts, if not adhered to would lead you straight to hell. We forget that most of these rules are man made, while God Himself is a Relational Being. Understanding this aspect of God makes you see Christianity beyond the religion it has been propounded to be over the years.

A relational being is interested in intimacy. Intimacy opens you up to understanding His ways, and thoughts about everything including life itself. The relationship God is after is beyond our worship service on Sundays. It is sad to see the shortsightedness we have used in appreciating the message of the cross. Jesus came for more than the forgiveness of sins. He came for the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. The only way to really make Him glad or glorify His work on the cross, is to live out the entire purpose of His coming; That we may advance the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth.

In this season, God is looking for men and women that will pay the price to become intimate with Him. He wants to have a relationship with you void of the opinion of men and the clutter in the world. He is looking for men and women to be part of the army He is preparing to take over the world and its systems. God is interested in loving you entirely and not just your keeping a set of rules. May you step into His available grace that would see you excel in living out His purpose for you on earth.

God Bless you

Expectation Vs God's Timing

I do not know what to do anymore. I have prayed, fasted, exercised faith, confessed God's promise about the circumstances I find myself in. I have sown seeds, monetary and otherwise. I have focused on all the positive things, birthing visual images in my mind of how things would look when God eventually comes through on this matter. Yet, nothing has happened. Could I be doing something wrong? Is there something I did from my past that is currently affecting me? Are there words that have been spoken against me? Is the blood of the new covenant not supposed to shield me from the consequences of the past? These questions and more could be lingering on your mind, while you wait for God to show up for you.

One area we all struggle with as humans is accepting God's timing for the fulfillment of our expectations. Even the expectations birthed from the promise He has given us, has its own 'God timing' which in human logic is often irreconcilable. All those years Abraham waited for the fulfillment of God's promise of a son from his loins, saw Abraham being unable to reconcile the timing of this promise. Hence, he gave in to Sarah's scheme of having a child with Hagar, the maid servant. God was not moved by this, as he insisted that Ishmael was not the child of promise.

Mary and Martha expected Jesus to show up when Lazarus was ill, so He could heal him. But He didn't, as he waited till Lazarus was dead. Bethany was just 2 miles away from Jerusalem where Jesus was when He got the news of Lazarus' Illness. He just needed to walk for 40 minutes by foot to get there, but He did not. When He showed up, both sisters said 'Lord, if you had been here Lazarus would not have died'. Yet, He had other plans even before the situation went seemingly worse. In the end, He raised Lazarus from the dead. Yes, He was late in the eyes of Mary and Martha, yet He met their need; their brother lived.

Often times, God's timing of saving us and performing that dearly desired miracle defies our human logic. This doesn't mean to stop trusting Him when He doesn't show up when we expect Him to. Neither does it mean to stop exercising faith or even confessing His word. I encourage you not to be weary in well doing. I don't know how God calculates the timing for our miracles, but we can rest in the knowledge that He wields the ability to show up for us. Don't stop believing! The expectations of the righteous will never be cut short. If you feel like its been cut short, just think that it's been readjusted by the master, and you will be better off for it.

Keep hope alive! God Bless You!

Lessons from the Mother of Moses

Jochebed was the mother of Miriam, Aaron and Moses. Being a descendant of the tribe of Levi, she knew God’s laws and His ways. She married Amram and had three children who were all instrumental in God’s plan to deliver the Israelites from the hands of the Egyptians. Num 26:59. Moses was God’s beloved servant, Aaron a Priest, while Miriam was a Prophetess. I strongly believe Jochebed pleased God so much, that her three children were used by God for His purpose and will.

First, she stood against Pharaoh’s decree of killing every male Hebrew child that was born. She had her child Moses and hid him in her house for three months, contrary to the law in operation. Was she not afraid considering the brutality of the rulership she was physically subject to? I believe she was a courageous woman, whose courage stemmed from her relationship with God. He backed her up in her decision to save her child’s life. She was a woman of faith. She had foresight, insight and wisdom. Through God’s spirit living on her inside, she knew there was a special destiny for the child she sought to protect. Understanding that she was a mere caretaker of the child God had given her, she performed her role judiciously. When she knew she could no longer hide the child in her house, she put him in a basket and placed it on a river, sending Miriam her little girl to watch over the child. She trusted God’s ability to protect his child whom she merely brought forth. While nursing Moses for Pharaoh’s daughter, I believe she instilled her ancestral values in him before he was sent to Pharaoh’s palace. How else did Moses know the Israelites were his brethren? Ex2:11.

What made Miriam acceptable to the Royal Princess of Egypt? How could a little girl convince a woman to get a nanny to care for a child she sort to call her own? How come Miriam was not shy or afraid to come out of her place of hiding while she watched her brother floating on the river? Jochebed had already instilled the right qualities relevant for the acceptance of her child Miriam in any social sphere. How about Aaron? He was three years older than Moses. He was God’s chosen orator and Prophet when Moses complained about his stammering tongue. Aaron was bold, courageous and intelligent.

What did Jochebed do right? She had her own relationship with God which affected her values. She transferred her boldness, courage and firmness to her children. She was not deterred by the values prevalent in the society. She taught her children what she knew was right. She lived by example. She showed Aaron and Miriam how to be courageous, by protecting their brother despite the consequences. She showed them what it meant to have faith. It was the same faith Miriam exuded while watching her brother. She had no fears of being in danger.

How many parents depend on God for insight into their child’s destiny? Do you exude the qualities you want your child to emulate? Do you take your parenting responsibility as a God given role, realizing that you will be held accountable some day? Do you teach your children what it means to have faith and trust in God no matter what? Do you instill in them values that will ensure they thrive and stand out in today’s decaying world? Remember that you have a role to play in the future of the next generation.

God bless you!

The Lost Art of Service

I wish Adam never fell to the Devil's schemes. Why have we failed to take advantage of and live in accordance with the examples of Jesus Christ Himself? The natural man is greedy, covetous, seeking self importance, prideful, arrogant, hoarding, with a zeal to Lead, be popular and feared. Yet, Jesus the greatest man who has ever lived on earth displayed contrary attributes. He came to show us God's intention and manual for man's existence on earth; to be humble, generous, serve without the pressing need for acknowledgement, love without expecting anything in return. For the very reason that Christ died for our sins, before we even came to know Him, speaks of a man who left all his grandeur in heaven, to show us what it means to love truly.

Christians have been blinded by religiosity. They want to lead and not serve. They want people to deem them as important. They want their words to be law. They want to be feared. They want to amass all the riches and be viewed as society's top class citizens. They want to air their views to seem important irrespective of how God would have them act. They have reduced Christianity to a set of rules, reduced the power that should work in them, living by the letter of the Bible instead of the power, intent and Spirit behind the letter. The politics and attitude in the church is fearful. I speak of the church because, whatever it permits becomes allowed on earth, and vice versa. All that we see in the world is an extension of what goes on in the church. Men are anxious to be viewed as important, the life blood that holds an organisation together. The boss is demeaning, disrespectful to his subordinates because he thinks he wields power, treat people anyhow and get away with it. What a world!

Whatever happened to treating a fellow human nicely without expecting anything in return? What about enjoying anonymity and yet being the brain behind the successful project that everyone knows about? How about being the boss and not dishing orders disrespectfully? What about respecting the opinion of other people? Forgiving a person when they hurt you, even if they don't say 'I'm sorry'? What has happened to the art of service? Why are humans power hungry? Why do they become power toxic when they eventually occupy a position of power? "I can see it now - at the final judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God- sponsored projects had everyone talking.' And do you know what I am going to say? 'You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're out of here.' Matt 7:21-23

I earnestly pray that we'd go back to the basis of our Christianity, living by the examples Christ displayed and being actually Christ-like. "Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion." Phil 2:5-8

Spiritual Unity in Marriage

When God designed marriage, Adam acknowledged that the woman shall be "the bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man. For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife: and they shall become one flesh". Gen2:23&24 I strongly believe this oneness includes both physical, emotional and especially "Spiritual Unity". Although they messed this oneness up with disobedience, the redemption of Jesus restored the marriage unit to the oneness originally intended by God. Today, I see a lot of marriages focus on other aspects of "oneness", disregarding the most essential aspect of "oneness", which is SPIRITUAL UNITY.

By spiritual unity, I mean both parties being in a place in God where they know who He is, the way He works, and understand His purpose. In most marriages today, you find out this is not the case as either the wife is trying to expand her husband's understanding of God by coercing him to go to church and work for God, or a husband is trying to make his wife see the reason why she needs to grow in God. I strongly believe that the world would have been in a better place than it is in today, if much attention was paid to spiritual unity.

A spiritually united couple will be armed with purpose, and would walk in destiny together. The power of unity will see them have dominion in whatever sphere they decide to play in. They will produce seeds who know their identity and are unstoppable. They will together make decisions seasoned with wisdom, discernment, understanding, built on the very foundations of God's kingdom; righteousness and Justice. Even during tests and trials, they will trust in the saving power of the God they know.

For those yet to be married, I strongly encourage that you look beyond the other "brouhahas" every one is used to. The spirit of God is the essential quality you need in order to determine other factors to be put into consideration before choosing a mate. You then proceed to inquire from God what His plan is concerning your marriage. Your knowing His plan will aid in your spiritual oneness with your spouse. For those who are married with the desire to experience spiritual oneness, God is able to reveal this to you, if you yield to Him. He teaches all things. One fact however remains that you cannot achieve spiritual oneness if you do not know your personal purpose. Personal Purpose and Spiritual Oneness, are both journeys that can only be embarked on in God.

God Bless you

In the Midst of Everyone's Opinion..

Whose approval do you live for? On whose opinion and advice do you base your life's decisions? In this age of social media, do you live and do things for the 'likes' or for approval by the majority? In the midst of every one's opinion concerning your circumstances, who do you listen to?

As I journey through life, I have come to realize that everyone has some form of advice and opinion concerning almost every aspect of your life. From family, to friends, to the endless list of loved ones. While Father wants you to take a job at a prestigious international organisation, Uncle thinks you should get a third degree. Friends think you should start a business. Aunties think you better settle down and get married. Others think you are better off at any job you find, after all half a bread is better than none. Truth be told, they all have your best interests at heart. Yet, if you find yourself caught up in this mix of 'what everyone thinks you should be doing', what do you do? Do you succumb to taking each and every advice?(If you do, you might just drown!)

In the end, all that matters is the voice and direction of your manufacturer and maker; God. As I come to know Him intimately, I understand that He will show you the path to take as you journey through life."I am God, your God, who teaches you how to live right and well. I show you what to do, where to go". Isaiah 48:17 In most cases, no one would understand this path except you who has been given the manual specifically. Trying to explain to others without revelation, will more often than not lead you to a dead end.

If you are faced with making a decision today, whether as regards a business deal, a career move, an investment decision, or in the course of your relationship(marital or otherwise), I challenge you to listen to the voice of God irrespective of the clutter of voices around you. You remain responsible for your life's decisions. Besides, when you are solely dependent on God, He holds you accountable for your every action, because He'd test and judge your every action right on the spot. I encourage you not to be deterred by the non-acceptance of your decisions by those around you including your loved ones. It took Jacob a while to accept the authority of his son Joseph, despite the dreams he was privy to. Eliab despised David his seeming 'little brother' because of his courage and boldness. Mary and Joseph didn't understand Jesus' zeal for His Father's work, despite the supernatural conception they experienced. Let your confidence be in the Lord's direction of your every move.

The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

God bless you

Will I Die Empty or Full?

I hear you say 'yet another awkward title'.. As you know, I enjoy thinking and asking God a lot of questions. This question popped up in my head during one of my time out sessions with my Father. 'Will I die empty or full?'

We all acknowledge the huge potential in every man created by God, considering the DNA put on his inside. Nevertheless, how many men live out this potential in its entirety? How many can successfully boast of putting to use every single bit of potential encrypted in them by God? When you live out your potential, make an impact in your sphere, put the grace of God available for you under pressure, I believe you can boast of dying empty. It does not really matter the age at which you die. What matters is that you lived, and you did so fully.

On the other hand, majority die still full, without even realizing what they carry on their inside. It seems like they lived without bothering to make an outstanding difference through utilizing the potential locked on their inside. I understand it takes a lot of effort to stand out and live beyond mediocrity especially in our world today. Yet, I do not think the inability to put effort is sufficient excuse to waste all that God spent His time to create and place in you.

What will your Eulogy say about you? I wrote mine few months ago and I look at it weekly to remind myself of God's goal for me; to live fully and die empty. I apologize for being so blunt about death, considering no man wants to die. However, the reality remains that we are here for just sometime, and while we remain here, we better be doing and living out all that's been placed on our inside. Say no to mediocrity! Chose to die empty! Myles Munroe once said the richest place he ever visited was a grave yard because of the many treasures buried in there without use. If it's an idea, work it out. If it's a book, write it. If it's a business plan, implement it. If it's ministry, go for it(be sure there's a call though..lol). Do not be among the 'Had I Known folks' who would be shocked when we get to heaven because of the magnificent exuberance of the Father, who expects us to be His earthly representatives.

May His Grace keep you always.

Where is Your Worth?

I was extremely bullied by peers while growing up. This experience resulted in my being uptight and not wanting to relate so much with humans. I remember feeling worthless at some point, while struggling at the same time to be accepted by these peers. I eventually gave up the whole seeking attention craze, as I landed in unpleasant experiences severally, which left me feeling worse every time.

Fast forward to many years after, I found my worth in Christ. I came to know His deep reaching, breath taking love for me. Ever since then, it's been an unstoppable, not-looking-back journey into the life that God gives. My experience in God so far, has been mind blowing to say the least.

Today, I see a lot of people struggle with their self worth. Our society does more harm than good, as it proffers its own standards of determining self worth which a lot of people have fallen prey to. I do not think your worth should be determined by academic accolades or material possessions. What happens to all those things when you feel like crap while laying in your closet, ALONE?

It is my desire that we will all embark on a journey of becoming who we really are irrespective of what parameters the society uses in determining self worth. The moment we realize we can not live or be outside our creator, there our life actually begins. These parameters set by society actually clutters the real you, while you develop a persona that fits into what you think is acceptable. I believe this has contributed to the many ills prevalent in today's society.

I pray and hope that we will find our worth in Christ and fulfill the very purpose for which mankind was made; that the intelligence and creativity of God be revered and praised by all beings.
God will, and still remains the only life giver, through Jesus His Son.

Gratitude...The Default State of a Redeemed Heart

As I journey daily in my walk with God, my eyes of understanding are opened with new things being revealed to me. In most cases I live in awareness of these things, but some days I get a different understanding of these prior 'normal things'.

For sometime, I've been asking God about David. Some of my questions were: "How come he wrote most of the Psalms? Especially the Psalms that ascribe everything to God, Psalms that describe God's faithfulness, His loving kindness, never ending mercies and compassion?" David was in battles for a better part of his life. I mean from Goliath, to the Philistines, to the Amalekites, and all the 'ites'. It was one battle after the other. Was he not busy with the task of planning battles, running from Saul, preparing to rule Israel, making plans for Solomon to build the temple? His stories indicate that he was a very busy man.  Yet, he wrote most of the Psalms in thanksgiving. How come Adam never wrote a psalm or did something to reflect gratitude? or maybe I'd find out when I get to heaven.

Here's what I have realized; the default state of a heart that knows God is thanksgiving. You get to the point where you just know that you can never be self sufficient but there is a supreme power behind your very being. Inadvertently, you become thankful in everything, living out the admonition in 1Thessalonians5:17 " give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus".

This Psalm sets things in perspective;

You make grass grow for cattle and make vegetables for humans to use
in order to get food from the ground.
You make wine to cheer human hearts,
Olive oil to make faces shine, and bread to strengthen human hearts.
The Lord’s trees, the cedars in Lebanon which he planted, drink their fill.
Birds build their nests in them, Storks make their homes in fir trees.
The high mountains are for wild goats.
The rocks are a refuge for badgers.
He created the moon, which marks the seasons, and the sun, which knows when to set.
He brings darkness, and it is nighttime, when all the wild animals in the forest come out.
The young lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
When the sun rises, they gather and lie down in their dens.
Then people go to do their work, to do their tasks until evening.

When you come to the knowledge of this Job description, which God does without help, your default mode will be gratitude.

Lord, I am thankful for your daily love for me.

Rest in Peace

I know the title of this post might seem absurd, but permit me to explain. Four years ago, my Pastor preached a message titled "rest in peace".. The moment I heard the title, I was like "huh? How does that relate to we who are alive and breathing?". Today, my understanding of resting in peace is deeper, and still evolving.

To rest in peace means to enter God's rest while allowing His peace flood your heart, irrespective of what happens around you. Apparently, a living being can actually rest in peace on earth, without being dead. Jesus displayed the reality of this concept while on the boat, in transit with His disciples. He was asleep during a storm! "Suddenly, a severe storm came across the sea. The waves were covering the boat. Yet, Jesus was sleeping." Matt8:24.

I believe the bible describing the storm as 'severe' is to proffer an understanding of how bad the storm was. It was no mere storm, as it covered the boat. Yet Jesus was asleep. I do not think he was so deep in sleep that he could not wake up and shiver at their fate. He knew who He was in God, He knew the power He had, He knew the plan was not for him to die through a storm. Hence, He chilled, took a comfortable position and slept. This explains His admonition to us in Matt11:29; "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,..you will find rest for your souls".

What confidence do we have when we are faced with the storms of life? How can we take advantage of the rest available for the people of God as stated in Heb 4:9? The only practical way I know is to cast all our cares and burdens on God and leave it there. You can not leave the burden with God, and then wonder how He's going to work it out. I believe this steals the peace we should have, preventing us from entering into God's rest. "I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."  John14:27

You can only enjoy the rest of God when you have the peace that Jesus gives. Since I found this secret and decided to live it out, I have enjoyed peace in God's rest. It's inexplicable. I am not moved by what my circumstances tell me. Whatever you may be going through today, I encourage you;  "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Phil4:6-7

May you bask in the rest of God and His peace.

P.s I grew up listening to this song, but I recently got a revelation understanding of the lyrics. Listen and be blessed. :)

I Press on....

One of the "what if" questions in my last post(someone called it a "rant" :) ) happened to me this past week. I would spare the details of my experience, but it shook me so much that I shut down all activities for over two days. Talk about being caught unaware by events.

Everything has just left me wondering why we go through the things we go through? I have a lot of questions which I know would remain unanswered possibly until I get to heaven.Nevertheless, how do you let go of the many unnamed feelings caused by events and still press on in this journey called life, especially in your faith as a Son of God on earth? How can I let go of these feelings and just focus on my journey to who and what God has called me to be? It is so easy to quote "this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead...."Phil3:13 Do we really live it out? Letting go of the memories of yesterday for an uncertain tomorrow can sometimes be a hard call to make...

My therapy for letting go has been to genuinely admit how I feel, by crying and expressing my feelings to God, just the way they are. This opens me up to receive help from the Holy Spirit who comforts me by refocusing my gaze to the word of God, which is my reality irrespective of the prevalent circumstances. I eventually pick myself up and press on towards the goal for the prize of my calling in Jesus Christ.

I just thought to encourage anyone going through a tough time by putting up this post. Jesus never said it will be easy, but He said we would face all sorts of trials and hard times, but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. Since He lives in us, we are ourselves over-comers. Hence, when we go through fire or water, nothing hurts us. Even if it hurts us and we fall, we rise up and press on. Although a righteous man may fall seven times, he will still rise up. We take solace in the fact that in order to reign with Christ in glory, we should be willing to partake of some form of suffering just like He did while on earth. The calling on our lives is worth fighting for!

Be of Good Cheer! God Bless you!

The Motivation...the center of Life's Decisions

I cannot seem to find a more appropriate title to capture the thoughts expressed in the content of this post. My hope is that you ponder like me after reading this.

In the past couple of weeks, I have met people who are all excited about life, even though things are not as "together" as they would want. I observe their expressions, reactions and attitude. All I see is some form of light, joy, passion, excitement about their lives howbeit unpleasant it may seem to others. On the other side of the coin are people who seem to have it "together" with some of the things the first group lack. Yet, they look forlorn, laid back, pessimistic, and sometimes unenthusiastic. Observing them, I wonder in my mind, "you have it all together, why are you unhappy? why the complaints? what if things aren't as good as they are now, what will happen? why are you edgy and quick tempered? why can't you smile more?"

What really makes us happy?
What should really make us happy?
What makes the fire in your eyes light up when you speak with people?
Does your Job define your reaction to life and the people you meet?
What if it is taken from you within the blink of an eye?
Will you still be happy and enthusiastic about life?
What if you hope to get married and it never happens?
Will you take your frustrations out on every married person in bitterness?
What if you get married and never have a child?
Will you be excited in this game called life?
What if you lose a loved one?
What if you never buy that house due to lack of access to credit?
What if your dreams never come true?
What if everything you have or own is taken away from you?

What motivates you?
What makes you treat people the way you do?
What makes you love those who appear undeserving of your love?
What makes you want to be influential?
What is your life built on?
What legacy do you want to leave on earth at the end of your days?
What drives you?
What makes you feel fulfilled?
What will give you a sense of fulfillment in life?

You are a product of the choices you make!!

The Extremity of God and Man

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. Isaiah55:8
The way we think as humans is far different from how God thinks, and operates. Although we can carry out a survey to make a decision hinged on foresight, that foresight is still shortsightedness in the eyes of God, as only Him can see the end from the beginning, to make the right move.

What Inspired this post, you may ask?
I have been studying the life of David for a few weeks now, asking God some questions in a bid to know why He loved David so much that Jesus is called the Son of David even in Heaven right now. Now remember when David was king over only Judah in Hebron after Saul's death in 2Sam2, Abner the commander of Saul's army took Ishbosheth, son of Saul and made him king over Israel. I believe Abner knew God anointed David to be the next king of Israel, but having followed Saul in the futile attempt to kill David, he thought he would continue his masters mission; Ensuring David does not become king.

Fast forward to 2Sam3:9, Abner tells the man he made king over Israel; "May God do so to Abner, and more also, If I do not do for David as the Lord has sworn to him - to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and set up the throne of David over Israel and Judah". Abner goes to David and promises to hand over the whole of Israel to him. How relieved David must have felt! His opposition finally succumbed! The promise of him being king which he had been waiting for its fulfillment for years was finally in view. And then Boom!! Abner is killed. You can tell how this affected David by his reaction. He tore his clothes! He mourned deeply for Abner! I believe he mourned greatly because it seemed like he was back to status quo, when will I become king? The man that was going to help me and hand over the kingdom to me has just been killed! God why? Why me? I believe these were his reaction.

However by revelation, I understand that If God allowed Abner hand over the Kingdom to David, he will carry on like David was dependent on him. Besides, there will always be a question as to his loyalty. Abner being part of David's rule would have caused problems for David. So God allowed his death. David didn't see that coming.
How often do we make our plans, thinking we've got everything figured out? A man may make many plans but only the Lord's purpose will prevail. A man may plan to take road A to get to Junction B, but God might just want him to take road A, B, C, D and even E to get to the same Junction B. Sometimes you can't understand why it happens that way. Yet through my journey I am learning that God is a God of process. Even Jesus was subject to process while he was on earth. I mean He knew the word at age 12 , being the word Himself. But he waited till he was age 30 to begin his ministry fully. Sometimes I wish we had an account of what Jesus did while waiting, but oh well.. I'd find out when I get to Heaven.

Lord, help me to understand that your ways are not my ways, and to know that you have the best plans for me. Amen

LOVE...

This is not about valentine..loool
I'm here thinking about how Jesus was oppressed and afflicted for my sake, yet he uttered not even one word. I mean, He had the power to take down those men with a single breathe, but He did not. He was beaten, he was tortured, but he didn't say a word. Like a lamb taken to be slaughtered and like a sheep being sheared, he took it all in silence. Isaiah 53:7-8 Every time  I think of  God's love for me, I am deeply humbled. It just makes me want to live for Him and please Him with my every action.

Have you ever loved someone to the point of willing to shed blood for the person? I mean that's deep!!! waaay deep!! We humans even struggle to compromise to live in harmony with ourselves, talk more of giving our rights up for someone else. No one wants to be treated less than he feels he ought to be. People fighting for respect, some fighting for feminism and equal rights all over the place..(I try to stay away from these). The honest truth is Jesus is our model for living and our model for loving. We should learn to compromise. Don't always expect I'm sorry when someone hurts you, I mean you can actually live without an I'm sorry if you put your heart to it. Stop waiting for people to fan your ego, life is too short for that. Some kids do not even have access to clean water, yet you're screaming the "Do you know who I am" old fashioned tale.

The world will be a better place if we all learnt to compromise. No, I do not mean you should sit and be oppressed. God hates oppression!! Anyone that oppresses you, just report to God like you would do your earthly father and watch God fight for you. Yea!! Been there, Done that!! Learnt that from Nabal's experience after he insulted David. He died within one week!! Talk about My King!! He doesn't joke with His beloved, including you and me. :)

Okay, this is me just urging you to love more, and let go more. Do your bid in your own little way, in your environment and watch your world become a better place.

God Bless you always!!

THE BREAKING

I apologize for this long post, but i hope you read to the end. If you feel you are in a phase where you are being pruned by God, I encourage you. You are not alone. We are all in this together. You may feel at a standstill or in a prison like Joseph, or going through Famine like Isaac, trust me God is working something out.

You see for a long time, I think God got tired of the mediocrity Christians introduced to their lives on earth contrary to His original intention for us. The purpose of the word of God which is our manual for living is to wash us clean. ".. Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God's word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault." Ephesians 5:25b-27.

God's intention is for us to be pruned by his word and to be like Him. "We cannot afford to remain in the preschool finger painting  exercises on Christ. We need to get on with the grand work of art and Grow up in Christ. Let us leave the elementary teachings and go on to maturity, not laying the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death and of faith in God, instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgement..Hebrew 6:1-3." God wants us to experience more!! God wants us to get to the point of living a life of sacrifice and giving him pleasure. That is what breaking, pruning or washing does. You become a "mini-Jesus'' here on earth. Every one you meet has a taste of who God is, because your pruning makes you become like Him. Many examples of people who went through breaking in the bible exist.
  • Abraham, he left his family to walk with God. You can be sure leaving your comfort zone is a tough call to make.We are partakers of the blessing he brought down by reason of his obedience
  • Moses had to leave the grandeur of the Egyptian palace to go spend time in the Desert. He is one of the greatest prophet and the one who saw God
  • Joseph went from being favorite son to being sold into slavery, being betrayed, thrown into prison twice, before becoming prime minister. He didn't hear from his family for over 22 years. Yet, his role was influential as he affected the world at the time and God used him to preserve his family(the twelve tribes of Israel)
  • Esther most likely waited for over three years before her turn to see the king came. Preparing yourself in myrrh and other fragrances should have been boring. She persisted and eventually became an influential woman who saved the Jews
  • David was anointed to be king at a very young age, but it took a while before he ascended the throne, he faced threat to his life from Saul, he was Saul's instrumentalist, he led the men in debt, distress and discontent first, before he even became king of Judah. But all of these experiences shaped him to become a great king in the genealogy of Jesus.
  • Paul went through his phase of breaking, which saw him do more exploits than the 12 who spent one on one time with Jesus.
  • Jesus went through his phase of breaking as a man. He was tempted but didn't sin. "While he lived on earth, anticipating death, Jesus cried out in pain and wept in sorrow as he offered up priestly prayers to God. Because he honored God, God answered him. Though he was God's son, he learned trusting-obedience by what he suffered, just as we do. Then, having arrived at the full stature of his maturity and having been announced by God as high priest in the order of Melchizedek, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who believingly obey him."Heb5:7-10(msg)

If you feel you are being broken, I encourage you not to give up. I know its tough, been there myself, still am. But God uses the season to rip you off of attributes that are not like Him. Since you are His ambassador I don't think He would want you to act in ways contrary to his standard of procedure. You would just shame him, and make Him unhappy. Remember He has feelings like you and I. Since we are called, we have to be justified in order to be glorified. Everything works together for good, to them that are called according to God's purpose. Trust the process, it's intentional. It ain't over till it's good. God is a loving father, he chastises us for our good. His love for us is very real. Never lose sight of this and have faith in Him always.

God bless you always!!

You Are A Target!!

Almost at the end of a 40 day fast, the past two weeks have seen me face crazy tests I didn't even realize I was being tested till I came out. Oh Yea I passed!! or I would like to think I did..lool!! Indeed, God knew what our challenges on earth will be, before urging us to guard our heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life.

If you walk closely with God or have a call on your life(I think every believer has a call..talk for another day), you are a TARGET of the enemy. Yes, he's watching you right now chasing hard after God and looking for a way to distract you. He's after you, your mind, your actions. So you have to ensure your spirit man is equipped enough to face whatever the enemy decides to bring at any point in time. I would spare you the details of my test, but I would give the devil a thumbs up for being a master at mind games.

You see it just starts with a thought!! Imagine an invincible wind close to your ear, whispering a sentence into your mind. The sentence settles in your mind, analysis occurs in your mind, and then you come up with a 15,000 worded essay all in your mind. This essay might include reasons why you should react contrary to God's standard of operation, discouragement, overwhelming feelings, fear of the unknown. The next thing you know, you turn off the engine of your boat and park on one spot because your 15,000 word essay has made you feel like, 'What's in this walk with God for me?' 'I don't see fruits yet'. 'How long do I keep walking till the manifestation of God's promises to me?' And then you stop your daily prayers cos of your feelings, you stop reading your bible, you stop feeding your spirit which is your nerve center and engine. Don't forget your mind does not get born again,(topic for another day). Now the enemy has you where he wants you!! Hit your bible and say No!!!

I know the walk with God can be tough, But we do not do it with our flesh and like I love to say, we have been equipped with everything we need to walk right by God's side on earth. I'd leave you with a scripture the Holy spirit comforted me with in this season; 1Thess5:5-8;" you are all children of the light and of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.  But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet."

Be ALERT, ARMED WITH FAITH, LOVE and THE HOPE OF YOUR SALVATION! You are a CHILD OF LIGHT and CANNOT BE CARELESS. GUARD YOUR MIND, CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS AND REACTION, You ARE a TARGET of the Enemy!!.
May God keep you and cause His face to shine upon you.

God bless you!!

GET CHARGED UP!!!!

When I hear Christians say "the time I got born again was the most exciting time of my life!! I felt so much power and excitement to do God's work", it makes me feel sad for the entire christian fold. In my Pastor's words "Hit your Bible and Say No!! I won't live that kind of life" :)
How can you give excuses as to why you are no longer on fire for God? You now have a family with kids, and so what? or Did I hear you say, my job has gotten more demanding? Oh Please!. who even gave you the job, or keeps the life that goes to work? Have you forgotten Priscillia and Acquillas in the Bible?

We are called to a life of constant growth in God, and He has made every good thing required for us to do His will available to us. I've heard someone say Christianity is the only religion in which the Supreme God and Lord helps His followers run the race, by making every help available.(Hebrews 13:20). Besides, Jesus said in John15;5.."I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit". The responsibility of the branch is to bear fruit, knowing it is well rooted and its nutrients stem from its root. So do you think you are being fruitful in your calling? You cannot afford not to be!! God's first command to man upon creation was to be fruitful!

I urge you to take an inventory today. Have I matured in the things of God since I got born again? Has my knowledge of Him increased? Remember you can not afford to remain a babe taking milk when meat is available for you. You have access to the Holyspirit especially if you are born again. He is your stand by and He charges you up(that's if you let Him). He will guide you into all truth and keep you charged up for the life you have been called to live. There is no lukewarmness in God's kingdom. Remember the fig tree was cursed because of its fruitlessness.

Lord, I ask that you help me continually yield to you and be fruitful in the life you have called me to live. Amen

God bless you!!

Remind Me!! What is Your Excuse??

The day you received Jesus into your life and acknowledged his mark on you as stated in Ephesians 1:13, here's what you signed up for; 'To go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation'(Mark 16:15, Matt 28:18-19). So whether you like it or not, the charge is to be a witness for Christ and bring more people into the life you have.

I know evangelism sounds like a cliche that's out of fashion considering the disappearance of the track sharing era. The truth remains that we are obligated to share the good news of our lives in Christ and to bring people to the kingdom. Even King Solomon acknowledged the wisdom in winning souls in Proverbs 11:30; "....He who wins souls is wise".

Why are you Selfish with the life you have received in Christ? I know we want to live safe and not put our religion in the faces of people. But If you love someone, your expression reflects how you feel. So it is with loving Christ on earth. You need to tell people about Him. Let your immediate environment be influenced by your knowledge of who He is and the Joy He gives. There is no excuse not to be a witness!! If a well lit lamp remains hidden under a table, of what use would it be? Let your daily conversations be flavored with the character of the one you belong to.

Besides, technology has made witnessing easier. Exhaust the many social media tools in telling people about the wonderful life you have in Him. Don't stop talking about Him and everything He is. You've found so much joy in Him that you can not afford to hoard Him. Quit giving excuses!! Go tell it on the mountains, on the hills, everywhere!! Jesus is Lord and on Him rests the foundation of the world!!

P.s Don't forget to share our posts, everyone needs some encouragement. :) :)

Remain Blessed!!

PATIENCE... A Timeless Virtue

As humans, we are prone to having our way when we want to have our way. 'Dear God, I need a job, I need to pay bills, I have a list of overdue bills, please come through, Amen'. tick, tock, one month....three months..No Job!!! 'God! where are you? I've prayed about this matter. Okay! I'd still trust you.'  Another day, 'Lord I need to get married this year'. tick, tock, January...May... 'God, please I really need to be settled.' Then Booom!!!! December!!! Nothing!!!

One of the hardest virtues to imbibe as humans is PATIENCE. This virtue in the kingdom requires waiting and trusting in God's timing without worrying about circumstantial evidence. I love what Paul says about father Abraham. God promised to make him a father of many nations when he didn't even have a child. Romans 19:25 tells us; "Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, “It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said."  Thousand years later, we are heirs of this promise Abraham believed in.

We should always trust in God's timing because He alone knows the exact time to show up in our respective circumstances. Honestly, my experience has taught me that while we wait He works on things that we do not even realize need to be worked on. Take David for instance, He was anointed as the next king at age 17, but went through series of challenges before he took reign as king. These challenges took years, however one thing remained certain; In the period of waiting for the fulfillment of the prophesy on his life, God built David's dependency on Him, while also revealing His character to Him. This is evident in the Psalms written by David, most of which exude his knowledge of God's character and the heart of a worshiper David developed in the course of waiting, talk more of his attitude of inquiring of God before making decisions.

I know there have been great prophecies about 2016. Nevertheless, patience is a virtue that is needed to be employed as we journey through life as Christians, and even in our dealings with the secular world. Besides, when an investment is made, you wait for some time for the returns it would yield. The law of waiting even works with plants, animals and humans, as indicated in Ecclesiastes 3:1; 'there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven' . So rather than get agitated about the waiting process, inquire what you could learn or work on while you wait. If you're waiting for a job or job upgrade, God could be pruning your character to increase your capacity to function. Or you could be waiting for a spouse or a child, God could be increasing or building your tolerance level. One thing is for sure, something is being worked on while you wait. It's all about perspective, even if you do not see it. Do not be short sighted... look beyond what you see physically.

As you wait on God to come through you could make this prayer; "God I know your timing is perfect and I trust you completely with my life and circumstances. I pray for peace, patience and perseverance as I put my hope in you. Thank you for comforting me during this time of waiting in Jesus name. Amen!!!'

God Bless You!!!

Love Letter to My King...

In my short stay on earth, I have encountered circumstances that I rationalized, and failed to understand. Infact, some things happen that i cannot comprehend. It tells me that God's thoughts are way higher than ours as humans. He sees the end from the beginning.

Daily, I'm in awe of How God loves me and would go to any length to prove it to me. He already did by sending His son to die for me and to give me abundant life here on earth. Oh!! What love my Savior has for me. What was I thinking all those years I lived far away from my King and Lover? I wish I got close to you earlier, but I'm super thankful you found me when you did.

Lord thank you for making my life beautiful. Thank you for encompassing me with your love. I could shout from the mountain tops to tell the world how beautiful and loving you've been to me inspite of my unfaithfulness and childishness. Lord the extent of your patience awes me. You discipline and chastise me, yet you are ever willing to keep teaching me your ways with compassion and tenderness.
Oh!! How majestic you are. The heart of kings are in your hands. The nations are nothing but tiny drops in a bucket, yet you ochestrate and rule over all!!

My King, My heart, My lover, My Anchor, if words were enough I'd write and write about your love for me that is so real. Who else can love me like you do Jesus? Thank you for not giving up on me, Thank you for the love you show me, Thank you for revealing yourself to me, Thank you for showing me who I am in you, Thank you for teaching me what I have in you.

Lord, in you I have found a Father, a Lover, a Master, a Teacher, a Friend, a Companion. My heart is sold out to you forever, and I promise to serve you with my mind, soul, and body for the rest of my days on earth.

I love you crazily!!
Your Princess
