PE.....A Woman After God's Heart...

I remember when I  first met Ms. Eloho Onwah, I thought Oh! What a pleasant lady.
It was the light that shone so brightly through her eyes that drew my attention and captured my heart
I watched her in church
Her attitude during worship sessions spoke of a woman in love with God without care of what others thought.(I should be closing my eyes I know..lol)

In her I see  an unadulterated love for God
Borne out of a personal knowledge of Him
A passion for Him which she translates in her work for the Kingdom
A passion evident in her desire to see many grow
Capturing the light she so evidently carries

A woman who despite how busy life could be intentionally looks out for others
Her compassion has built solid friendships between herself and many others
Her Drive has influenced many to chase after God for themselves
Your tenacity and commitment remains so ever endearing
You are one woman many of us look up to
You might not know how much your impact has been felt
But I want you to know that me and a host of other ladies admire the woman that you are.

I Celebrate you today PE..
Thank you for being a model in our generation
We love you deep!
Happy Birthday!!!

Still Walking

I rise to walk
Yet I fall flat on my face
In the heat of the times I never thought I'd get through
Times I never thought I would experience

Yet I find a stronger power urging me to rise up from my fall
I struggle to crawl
I hurt from the wounds of my fall
I crawl, slowly I move further

I have the strength to rise again
I take one step..two..three
I get tired
Still I rise to walk
I keep walking
Knowing that what lies ahead of me needs me to walk
The power behind me pushes me forward

And He whispers to me"I know the plans I have for you...to give you a hope and a future"
Though I can't touch this future
My present denotes nothing like it yet

I perceive the future
Cos I perceive the magnificence of my promisor
And so He pushes me
Keep Walking
Through the slippery slopes just walk
Through the tight corners just walk
If it seems like a sea just walk
Through it all I'd be there

I am walking
I intend to keep walking
Keep pushing me, I will walk

Job's Wife...Through it All

We talk so much about the Famous Job in the bible. Yet, little or no mention is made about his wife apart from when she urged him to curse God and die, due to the many calamities that was brought upon them. Although we can not excuse her advice as right, yet she exuded every human attribute we all have: the tendency to get cowered by circumstances and blame it on God.

Nevertheless, I strongly believe that this woman rose above and beyond this moment of pain and blame and pressed on through their trials together. Why do I think so? Because through her God gave Job another set of sons and daughters to replace those lost in the fire. If these children were from a different woman, the bible would have specified. Moreover, it would not have really felt like a blessing in its truest form if he had to re-marry.

What is my point? As much as Job was Patient, His wife was patient as well. She nursed his wounds you can best believe, otherwise He wouldn't have gone back to have sons and daughters through her. Beyond the surface of the book of Job lies a woman, human enough to admit her blame of God, but strong enough to stand firm by her husband through all that was thrown at him. She was able to live beyond her circumstances, and in the end partook of the double honour that God redeemed Job with.

You can stand firm and pull through whatever life has thrown your way. I believe it is okay to have some moments of doubt or fear, being human, but I challenge you not to remain there. Stand firm, stay strong and know that through it all, Everything is working out for your good.

God bless you

What Utensil Am I?

One of my projects this week was God tutoring me on being a Vessel for His Use. He led me to 1Tim2:20-21;  “In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets—some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage. Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.”

I have pondered over this all week, trying to figure out what utensil fits into my job description or purpose in the Kingdom of God. Although I thought I'd liken myself to fine china used honorably to be a blessing. But then again, the compost bag also has its use. It takes out trash and ensures the kitchen is tidy. So what Utensil am I?.....

Sometimes I think Christians or church folks are carried away by titles that they forget that everyone is being used in the Kingdom for a purpose. In actual fact it's not even about the person being used by God or what he does for God. It is more about God Himself. God has His own agenda and the reasons why He chooses people and gives them a particular assignment. This in itself is more supreme than any thing.

Although I started out this post with the intention of encouraging you to be a vessel fit for the purpose of the Master, I just realized while writing that we should not look down on other utensils because of their use. In the same vein, we should not idolize certain utensils because of their use. Every Utensil has its use: to ensure that the Kitchen is running and producing value up to its full capacity. Even if you think you are an "Eba Stick" or "Microwave", your Joy is in the fact that the Master deemed you worthy of use!

Keep BEING a UTENSIL... God Bless You

P.s For my non-African audience, Eba stick is.....................lool

A Relational God

She walked into the church with her make up on, a fitted trouser and her long weave. She didn't even tie a scarf! Her blouse was fitted yet not revealing. In her heart she was dressed modestly, yet she attracted stares from everyone seated in the pews. Just after she took her seat, A young man walked in behind her. He looked dashing, with his hair weaved and studs on his ears. He wore a ragged jeans and a very long chain on his neck. They were both summoned by the ushers at the end of the service. Seated in front of the council of elders, they were being scolded and schooled on how they were headed for Hell because of their appearance.

This is the religion most Christians are used to; A list of do's and don'ts, if not adhered to would lead you straight to hell. We forget that most of these rules are man made, while God Himself is a Relational Being. Understanding this aspect of God makes you see Christianity beyond the religion it has been propounded to be over the years.

A relational being is interested in intimacy. Intimacy opens you up to understanding His ways, and thoughts about everything including life itself. The relationship God is after is beyond our worship service on Sundays. It is sad to see the shortsightedness we have used in appreciating the message of the cross. Jesus came for more than the forgiveness of sins. He came for the establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. The only way to really make Him glad or glorify His work on the cross, is to live out the entire purpose of His coming; That we may advance the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth.

In this season, God is looking for men and women that will pay the price to become intimate with Him. He wants to have a relationship with you void of the opinion of men and the clutter in the world. He is looking for men and women to be part of the army He is preparing to take over the world and its systems. God is interested in loving you entirely and not just your keeping a set of rules. May you step into His available grace that would see you excel in living out His purpose for you on earth.

God Bless you

Expectation Vs God's Timing

I do not know what to do anymore. I have prayed, fasted, exercised faith, confessed God's promise about the circumstances I find myself in. I have sown seeds, monetary and otherwise. I have focused on all the positive things, birthing visual images in my mind of how things would look when God eventually comes through on this matter. Yet, nothing has happened. Could I be doing something wrong? Is there something I did from my past that is currently affecting me? Are there words that have been spoken against me? Is the blood of the new covenant not supposed to shield me from the consequences of the past? These questions and more could be lingering on your mind, while you wait for God to show up for you.

One area we all struggle with as humans is accepting God's timing for the fulfillment of our expectations. Even the expectations birthed from the promise He has given us, has its own 'God timing' which in human logic is often irreconcilable. All those years Abraham waited for the fulfillment of God's promise of a son from his loins, saw Abraham being unable to reconcile the timing of this promise. Hence, he gave in to Sarah's scheme of having a child with Hagar, the maid servant. God was not moved by this, as he insisted that Ishmael was not the child of promise.

Mary and Martha expected Jesus to show up when Lazarus was ill, so He could heal him. But He didn't, as he waited till Lazarus was dead. Bethany was just 2 miles away from Jerusalem where Jesus was when He got the news of Lazarus' Illness. He just needed to walk for 40 minutes by foot to get there, but He did not. When He showed up, both sisters said 'Lord, if you had been here Lazarus would not have died'. Yet, He had other plans even before the situation went seemingly worse. In the end, He raised Lazarus from the dead. Yes, He was late in the eyes of Mary and Martha, yet He met their need; their brother lived.

Often times, God's timing of saving us and performing that dearly desired miracle defies our human logic. This doesn't mean to stop trusting Him when He doesn't show up when we expect Him to. Neither does it mean to stop exercising faith or even confessing His word. I encourage you not to be weary in well doing. I don't know how God calculates the timing for our miracles, but we can rest in the knowledge that He wields the ability to show up for us. Don't stop believing! The expectations of the righteous will never be cut short. If you feel like its been cut short, just think that it's been readjusted by the master, and you will be better off for it.

Keep hope alive! God Bless You!

Lessons from the Mother of Moses

Jochebed was the mother of Miriam, Aaron and Moses. Being a descendant of the tribe of Levi, she knew God’s laws and His ways. She married Amram and had three children who were all instrumental in God’s plan to deliver the Israelites from the hands of the Egyptians. Num 26:59. Moses was God’s beloved servant, Aaron a Priest, while Miriam was a Prophetess. I strongly believe Jochebed pleased God so much, that her three children were used by God for His purpose and will.

First, she stood against Pharaoh’s decree of killing every male Hebrew child that was born. She had her child Moses and hid him in her house for three months, contrary to the law in operation. Was she not afraid considering the brutality of the rulership she was physically subject to? I believe she was a courageous woman, whose courage stemmed from her relationship with God. He backed her up in her decision to save her child’s life. She was a woman of faith. She had foresight, insight and wisdom. Through God’s spirit living on her inside, she knew there was a special destiny for the child she sought to protect. Understanding that she was a mere caretaker of the child God had given her, she performed her role judiciously. When she knew she could no longer hide the child in her house, she put him in a basket and placed it on a river, sending Miriam her little girl to watch over the child. She trusted God’s ability to protect his child whom she merely brought forth. While nursing Moses for Pharaoh’s daughter, I believe she instilled her ancestral values in him before he was sent to Pharaoh’s palace. How else did Moses know the Israelites were his brethren? Ex2:11.

What made Miriam acceptable to the Royal Princess of Egypt? How could a little girl convince a woman to get a nanny to care for a child she sort to call her own? How come Miriam was not shy or afraid to come out of her place of hiding while she watched her brother floating on the river? Jochebed had already instilled the right qualities relevant for the acceptance of her child Miriam in any social sphere. How about Aaron? He was three years older than Moses. He was God’s chosen orator and Prophet when Moses complained about his stammering tongue. Aaron was bold, courageous and intelligent.

What did Jochebed do right? She had her own relationship with God which affected her values. She transferred her boldness, courage and firmness to her children. She was not deterred by the values prevalent in the society. She taught her children what she knew was right. She lived by example. She showed Aaron and Miriam how to be courageous, by protecting their brother despite the consequences. She showed them what it meant to have faith. It was the same faith Miriam exuded while watching her brother. She had no fears of being in danger.

How many parents depend on God for insight into their child’s destiny? Do you exude the qualities you want your child to emulate? Do you take your parenting responsibility as a God given role, realizing that you will be held accountable some day? Do you teach your children what it means to have faith and trust in God no matter what? Do you instill in them values that will ensure they thrive and stand out in today’s decaying world? Remember that you have a role to play in the future of the next generation.

God bless you!
