As humans, we are prone to having our way when we want to have our way. 'Dear God, I need a job, I need to pay bills, I have a list of overdue bills, please come through, Amen'. tick, tock, one month....three months..No Job!!! 'God! where are you? I've prayed about this matter. Okay! I'd still trust you.' Another day, 'Lord I need to get married this year'. tick, tock, January...May... 'God, please I really need to be settled.' Then Booom!!!! December!!! Nothing!!!
One of the hardest virtues to imbibe as humans is PATIENCE. This virtue in the kingdom requires waiting and trusting in God's timing without worrying about circumstantial evidence. I love what Paul says about father Abraham. God promised to make him a father of many nations when he didn't even have a child. Romans 19:25 tells us; "Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, “It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said." Thousand years later, we are heirs of this promise Abraham believed in.
We should always trust in God's timing because He alone knows the exact time to show up in our respective circumstances. Honestly, my experience has taught me that while we wait He works on things that we do not even realize need to be worked on. Take David for instance, He was anointed as the next king at age 17, but went through series of challenges before he took reign as king. These challenges took years, however one thing remained certain; In the period of waiting for the fulfillment of the prophesy on his life, God built David's dependency on Him, while also revealing His character to Him. This is evident in the Psalms written by David, most of which exude his knowledge of God's character and the heart of a worshiper David developed in the course of waiting, talk more of his attitude of inquiring of God before making decisions.
I know there have been great prophecies about 2016. Nevertheless, patience is a virtue that is needed to be employed as we journey through life as Christians, and even in our dealings with the secular world. Besides, when an investment is made, you wait for some time for the returns it would yield. The law of waiting even works with plants, animals and humans, as indicated in Ecclesiastes 3:1; 'there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven' . So rather than get agitated about the waiting process, inquire what you could learn or work on while you wait. If you're waiting for a job or job upgrade, God could be pruning your character to increase your capacity to function. Or you could be waiting for a spouse or a child, God could be increasing or building your tolerance level. One thing is for sure, something is being worked on while you wait. It's all about perspective, even if you do not see it. Do not be short sighted... look beyond what you see physically.
As you wait on God to come through you could make this prayer; "God I know your timing is perfect and I trust you completely with my life and circumstances. I pray for peace, patience and perseverance as I put my hope in you. Thank you for comforting me during this time of waiting in Jesus name. Amen!!!'
God Bless You!!!
